Thank you for a fabulous stay. The room and ensuite were spotlessly clean and the breakfast was amazing! A beautiful setting overlooking the sea.

Lovely guesthouse, felt more like a hotel than a B&B as it was very spacious. Lovely room with a sea view. Breakfast was excellent and Fiona who served the breakfast was very passionate and knowledgeable about the island. Answered our questions and have us some very useful tips.

Simple to book, parking good, easy access to town. Pleasant experience on booking in,room ready and very well presented.St Ebba has excellent views from room and living and breakfast rooms, all with beautiful Victorian features. Drinks facilities in the room were plentiful and breakfast was excellent with good choice and quality ingredients. Kristine and staff were very accommodating with nothing being too much trouble. Overall a really first class experience in a great venue.

Review for January 2023 (Winter)I arrived past 8pm, was up for breakfast at 7:45am, and checked out at 11am. Being that this is the colder season and my later arrival, I didn't enjoy some of the amenities St Ebba has listed. My review is for the room, breakfast and service.St Ebba is located not too far from the Rothesay Ferry Terminal. About a 16 min walk. Access to the building within regular check-in hours is east. Once inside, there is a buzzer which you can use to call the staff to check in at the main entry. ( there are also free postcards located in this entry if inclined) Check in was very easy. I was upgraded to a slightly larger room free of charge which was quite nice. The building is older, but quiet. Didn't notice any creaking, and could not hear neighbors. Very quiet stay. The room is spacious. I stayed in # 4. Room and bathroom well cleaned and prepared. No signs of staining, mould, any type of structure damage to the room as you may find in older buildings. I was very comfortable. Well heated through the night, not at all drafty. There is one window in this particular room that opens up to the back yard. There is no scenic view on this side of the building, but this was no bother to me. Pillows and mattress were excellent. Sheets and duvet kept me cozy and warm. Very good bed size for at least one person. Large shower with plenty of warm water and good pressure. Long and rough towels for a good dry. There is a non slip mat included with shower. You can text or email your breakfast choices which are located on a laminated menu in the room. Breakfast was excellent and is served between 7:30 and 9:30. I had the smoked salmon and poached egg. Well prepared and presented. Was off for a walk afterwards coming back at 10:20am to prepare for checkout. Again, an easy experience. There is a bus stop not far from this location as well for getting into Rothesay and beyond or getting down to Kilchattan Bay. The staff were all incredibly nice. I would definitely come back to stay at St Ebba on another trip to the Isle of Bute. It was an excellent find

The house was well occupied and my only criticism would be with more traffic on ground floor a bit more noise.Breakfast as usual excellent with great choice. Host Kristine as always welcoming.

Kristine, was very warm and friendly. I was given a lovely room, with a double bed. The room and on suite shower was decorated well, and lots of attention to detail especially with the mirror in on suit having lights on both sides of it perfect for putting on your make up. There was plenty options for breakfast, i went for the traditional fry up, and my egg was cooked to perfection, actually everything on the plate was. I will definitely be back, i would certainly recommend the St Ebba definitely worth a visit. Thanks for your hospitality. X

We had a large, very well decorated room with smart TV. Situated on the promenade with large bay windows which overlooked the sea and islands. The bathroom, which had two sinks, a bath and a shower was larger then some bedrooms on offer in the b&b market although not all rooms are like this.Very good value too with well cooked and ample breakfast and a very helpful host. Plenty of parking outside or in the driveway.

Very comfortable and nicely refurbished rooms in historic, charming house (with great matresses, nice little touches like mint chocolates together with the tea, coffee, and hot chocolate kit in each room), very nice living room with TV with views to the see. They offer the best breakfast we have ever had. They let you customise this choosing and combnining both continental and cooked and nothings is too much trouble. Coneniently located at the edge of Rothesay, on the way to Mount Stuart. Really amazing place and very good value for monty! Thank again for a lovely stay. Would definetely recommend.

St Ebba is perfectly located along the coast road. about half a mile from the town centre, with panoramic views across Rothesay Bay to the mainland. Our room 3 was enormous with comfortable king sized bed and 2 lounge chairs perfectly positioned to enjoy the 180 degree scenic views. The bathroom was bigger than most hotel bedrooms and included a rain shower, an enormous standalone antique bath and two sinks.Breakfast was preordered the night before and included an excellent fresh fruit pot, Scottish cooked breakfast and porridge. The b&b offered great value particularly when booking room 3.

We stayed 4 nights at St Ebba B&B in room 3.The house is very clean and beautifully decorated. Our en suite room had a sea view over the Kyle of Bute, with amazing sunsets. Two comfortable chairs positioned for looking out of the big bay window meant you had no need to do anything else but sit back and enjoy the view. The room had a large bathroom with a separate bath and large shower complete with all toiletries. The breakfast was extensive and excellently cooked, it certainly filled you up for the rest of the day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend St Ebba's B&B to anyone and would stay again when returning to the island, there are still parts of it to explore. If I could give more than 5 starts I would. Kristine is an excellent host.

This was my first ever trip to the Isle of Bute and I chose St. Ebba for its reasonable rates and ideal location. Upon arrival I was greeted promptly and given good information about my stay, including ordering breakfast. The room was comfortable, warm, and nice to look at, although I spent little time there because of how beautiful the island is. Directly across the street from St. Ebba is a rocky beach with lots of seashells, tidepools and other things to explore. You also get a great view of the ferries and other boats passing by. It's close enough to the hub in Rothesay to walk into town for some shopping or dinner, but in the other direction it also offers easy access to some great beaches and walking trails. Keep an eye out for seals. Breakfast in the morning was right on time, served with a smile, and delicious. Staying here made my short trip smooth, happy, and comfortable, and I will be returning soon.

This was our first visit to Rothesay and we fell on our feet with St Ebba's. We took a sea-view room and were rewarded with memorable views. We had a packed two days so didn't spend a lot of time there but the breakfast and the warm welcome from the delightful staff made it a lovely base with a fantastic view and location.

An overnight trip away and stayed at St Ebba. Kristine, the owner, was always available before and during to answer any questions I had. My wife has mobility issues and ground floor bedroom was ideal for our needs. It was very spacious to move around safely as was the bathroom. Residents lounge and breakfast room were a few steps from the room. Room clean and bed very comfortable and supportive. Lovely breakfast in morning that set us up for the day. Although not in the centre of Rothesay, the location was ideal for a relaxing time away and an easy walk or short car/taxi ride and you were in the town centre. Would definitely come back.

Being unable to leave the Isle of Bute due to a storm we asked to stay at this guest house on very short notice. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. Our room was spotlessly clean and rules relating to Covid were prominent and adhered to. The breakfast was superb and our room was warm and comfortable. We had plenty of fluffy towels and excellent tea/ coffee making facilities on hand. We certainly will return to St.Ebba in the near future and were delighted with our stay.

Room 2 on the first floor faced the beautiful bay of Rothesay. It was very large with a super king bed(2 singles wide)and a sofa. The en-suite had a double shower cabinet. Breakfast of homemade Scottish pancakes and maple syrup galore with banana was exceptional, with a similar view out across the sea. Three herons sited outside on the shore opposite, one with a swan, made my stay completely wonderful. The hosts were approachable, professional and informative.

Just home following a wonderful winter week at St Ebba.First time staying there despite holidaying in Rothesay every year for almost thirty!First floor room with huge bay windows and a sea view. Loved it.The bathroom featured a modern power shower, or as a contrasting alternative, an Iron Victorian bath! Classy. His and hers sinks and a bathroom that is bigger than any room in our house!Breakfast is ordered by text the night before then cooked to order at the time of your choice.Good selection and well prepared.Host Kristine went out of her way to make sure we knew that anything wee needed was a message away. Very attentive to her guests needs. We will certainly be back and are more than happy to recommend St Ebba.Highlights of our stay were sitting at the bay window and that incredible panoramic vista... watching a seal play on the water one day, a swan bobbing about the following day, and the storms causing waves so high that a whole length of pavement was swallowed up by the sea! The power of nature.

Excellent pre-arrival communication.Friendly welcome on arrival. Superb large PROPER sea-view room (the front of the property overlooks the sea, with stunning views up Loch Striven through large feature windows: none of this 'stand-on-a-chair and perhaps glimpse a view of the sea if you're lucky' kind of thing!) with king-size bed. Excellent facilities. Room has original period-feature cornicing. En-suite bathroom (old-style TUB in excellent condition - what a feature!) with separate shower and twin sinks. The En-suite is as big as some hotel rooms - no exaggeration!Lovely tasty breakfast with excellent choice - both hot and cold. Our stay was a delight, and we would be very happy to come back again.

St Ebba was a beautiful place to stay for a couple of nights on Bute. From the initial communication with Kristine to covid-safe check in it was seemless. On arrival this beatiful establishment was clean, welcoming, parking on-site and so accessible to the ferry. We had a double room on the ground floor, it was well stocked, spotless, comfortable and the owners pride in this B&B was evident. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Gorgeous bathroom which was spotlessly clean, with additional touches, amazing double shower, gorgeous Scottish soaps/shampoos.Breakfast was phenomenal, great selection and fantastic local produce to enjoy.Kristine and her team were so attentive and friendly without being overly so - exceptionally professional. You couldn't tire of the view from the sitting area at the front of the building of the Clyde forth - ships, birds, cruise liners, hills, clouds, rippling water... beautiful view.I would def recommend staying here.

I stayed at St Ebba for one night midweek whilst in Rothesay for work.Absolutely no problems. I was greeted promptly on arrival in the early evening, and everything was ready for me. Check in was informative and friendly but quick. First impressions were good, in public areas and in the room. Everything was clean and fresh, and the tea and coffee facilities in the room were welcome after a day on the road. If I wanted to be really picky, I'd say the pillows were a little firm for my taste, but that's personal preference, and I still had a great night's sleep. The bathroom was clean, with a good shower. Breakfast was equally good, with prompt, friendly and efficient service and a good choice of different options.

There is some off street parking available, but it is easy to park on the wide Mount Stuart road. Rothesay centre is 10 mins walk away. I travelled to Rothesay for the first time. The BnB is ideally located along the promenade (turn left off the pier), about ten minutes walk from the town centre (and what lovely scenery). My room had a doubled bed, with en-suite shower, sink and loo. The BnBhas wonderful views, free wifi, a tv, and hot dinks in the room.I cannot fault it.Katrina is a smashing host and cooks a fantastic breakfast. I can heartily recommend the kippers! The brekkie set me up for the day.The Isle of Bute has lots to offer and I shall return.

Spacious, comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Decorated to a high standard and the service was also of a high standard. If we go back to Bute, and probably will, this will be where we will book.

We were really just needing somewhere cheaper to stay while we explored Bute and we were taken aback at how warmly welcomed we were. The breakfast options were superb and the room we stayed in was lovely too. Likewise the host Kristine was lovely, full of advice and tips on spots to visit.

What a lovely comfortable three night stay I had just after guidelines were revised to allow such stays. My upgrade was much appreciated with the room very comfortable and with those great views too.I enjoyed my breakfasts, included inthe price. Porridge, salmon and scrambled eggs and on my last morning, a full Scottish.I felt very welcome and the measures put in place to keep everyone Covid safe were very reassuring. If I need somewhere to stay on the island in the future, I will definitely bebooking a room here again.

The view from our room was exceptional enabling us to relax and enjoy our weekend more quickly than expected. Kristine was anobliging and welcoming host and we will definitely return. The b & b was within easy reach by foot of the town centre and the breakfast provided was substantial and varied.

I had a great time over here in Rothesay and this experience was made so much better as a result of this B and B. Although COVID restricted contact with the owners they still did their best to make me feel welcome. They provided me with my breakfast (which was amazing!) furthermore brought up extra treats out of their own accord. The room I had was really comfortable - with a nice modern shower and large comfy double bed ????. As I am a student social worker I will need accomodation again once I return.St Ebbas will definitely be my first choice when I return to the island. Thank you!

St Ebba was a very lucky find for me in a very difficult situation. I crossed from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay on the ferry just for an afternoon sightseeing visit on foot. To my dismay all return sailings that day were cancelled due to high winds. I looked online for affordable accommodation and St Ebba came up trumps. Kristine is a very hospitable and kind host. She helped me out by lending me a phone charger (as most of my belongings were stuck in my car on the mainland) and she provided me with a beautifully appointed room for the night. It was immaculate, tastefully decorated and catered for all my needs. Breakfast the next morning was excellent too. Thankfully the ferries were back in action and I was able to pick up where I left off on my road trip holiday. However, I will definitely plan to come back and stay at St Ebba on the beautiful Isle of Bute. Thank you.

This ticked every box for us.Space to secure of bicycles, great chice for breakfast and nothing to much trouble. All Covid guidelines working very well with little intrusion into our break. Now the room. We were given a seaview as room was avaialble: and my what a view. The room itself was spacious. Massive in fact and we can confirm bed very comfy. As for the bathroom? We have stayed in hotel rooms that were smaller than this lol.Overall a lovely B&B in a superb seafront location with a nice easy stroll onto the town centre.Recommended.

We had a lovely stay at St Ebba. The view from our first floor large double room was amazing - looking out across the sea. Stunning. The room was clean; the bathroom was huge with a beautiful old huge cast iron bath! and the breakfasts were ample and fresh. We would highly recommend St Ebba.

We were a little bit worried about what it would be like travelling in the middle of the pandemic, but once we got to the B&B everything went like a dream. We (2 parents, son aged 8 and daughter aged 4 months) were in the family room, at the top of the house: it was quiet and we didn't feel that the baby's screams were bothering the other guests. The view from the window was astounding: there were days when we just wanted to sit and look out at the bay and watch the ferries coming in and out. It was a large bright room: the beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The breakfast was amazing: we all ate very well and were left to relax and enjoy our time. It really was a wonderful few days.

This is an excellent B&B and if you’re lucky enough to get room 3 you’ll be able to enjoy the best view on Bute. Highly recommended. The breakfast is excellent (I particularly recommend the kippers which come direct from a local smokehouse) and the owners are delightful. Great location to enjoy the island. 5 Stars

We stayed as a family group, with mostly adults and some children.Kristine was so very helpful and kind. Beautiful Victorian house, with great sized rooms. Clean and comfortable.Breakfast was great. Lots of choice and beautifully cooked. A nice, easy walk to the town centre (just under a mile away). Those with Seaview rooms loved them. The view is stunning.I'd certainly have no issues recommending St Ebba and would stay again. Thanks Kristine.

My family and I (2 adults and 2 children) booked a last minute break to the Isle of Bute in August 2020.Kristine from St Ebba B&B returned my call when I was looking to reserve some accommodation and from this first call, Kristine was the perfect host.Kristine gave us local advice regarding the ferry times and some recommendations for places to eat on the island as quite a few were still closed due to Covid restrictions. The B&B had plenty of adjustments for Covid-19 to ensure the common areas and rooms remained cleaned.Kristine offered us two rooms which would be suitable for us as a family of 4 and allowed us to look at the rooms before we made a choice. We chose Room 5 which although it didn't have a sea view, had plenty of space for a family of 4 to stay for the 3 nights. The bathroom had good quality products for our use and the bedding was good quality which you would expect from a very good hotel. The breakfast is INCREDIBLE! I've stayed in lots of hotels and B&B as part of my job, but I can honestly say the breakfast at St Ebba is the best for options and quality I've ever had. I had the full Scottish breakfast and my wife had the gluten free equivalent. The quality of the produce is second to none. The kids also had the pancakes which were homemade. There was no continental buffet style breakfast but this was due to Covid restrictions. It just made the service even more personal as Kristine served all the elements to our table.Breakfast is ordered the evening before but Kristine was more than accommodating with any minor changes. If you're looking to stay on the Isle of Bute, look no further. This offers an exceptional nights stay and wonderful breakfast, the two key elements of B&B.

My partner and I have chosen to stay at St Ebba three times now. Every visit is a delight and we can’t wait to return. We don’t have a car so walk between the ferry terminal to St Ebba and there’s a couple of great wee pubs on the way. It is always very clean, quiet and relaxing. The view out to sea is stunning. Thedecor is beautiful and the every design choice fits in with the traditional feeling of the building. There is a great choice for breakfast and it has always been delicious. We always feel welcome and would highly recommend staying.
